Yemen’s own catnip ‘Qat’ becoming a huge burden on already starving land

While millions of Yemenis are suffering serious food and water shortages due to the ongoing conflict, the cultivation and sale of Khat is expanding. Consumers say chewing the mild narcotic plant is their only escape, but the increased demand is putting pressure on Yemen's agricultural production.
