The information in question had to do with details about Vance’s travel and was leaked for a news story, according to sources familiar with the matter. Another source confirmed that the identity of the agent was confirmed by officials.
The news story was about how Vance’s security detail had grown tired of the Vice President’s “hastily arranged personal and family travel requests”.
The story caught more than reader’s attention; apparently federal officials were deeply concerned over operational details being described in the press, leading to suspending the agent in question and launching an investigation.
