In the final moments of a comedy bit, one Israeli jokester decided to use his status while he had the attention of the audience to get people to recognize the plight of Palestinians, according to Israeli news outlet Haaretz. TV host Assaf Heral discusses what many people consider a state of Apartheid in Israel-Palestine, the consistent infringement upon Palestinian land and rights, and how the Israeli side of the conflict has gotten desensitized to the whole thing. After all, he says, they’re on ‘the good side’ of the conflict, i.e. it doesn't affect Jewish Israeli lives in the way it affects Palestinians and Arab Israelis.

Watch the clip, originally in Hebrew with English subtitles:

Israel has been under increasing international scrutiny for its continued abuse of Palestinian rights. From expanding settlements, to more lenient sentences for killing civilians than for Palestinians who throw stones, to the situation in Gaza, the status quo is getting worse by the minute. However, it is important to recognize, as Mr. Heral did, that the situation in Israel-Palestine has been unacceptable for a very long time—not just with the rise of conservative politicians in recent years.
