Somewhere, three undiscovered radio stars will go from obscurity to celebrity as REEF Mall and Channel 4 Radio Networks continue their Dubai-wide search for the city’s next recording stars.
The Radio Star Search screening programme continues on Friday, April 29th. On that day, adults from 16 years or above are invited to visit the Channel 4 Radio Network recording booth, located at REEF Mall, Deira. Aspiring stars can record their entries between 4pm and 10pm; selected entries will be broadcast on the radio. Listeners will have an opportunity to call in and vote for their favourite recording.
Qualified contestants will be announced on April 30th. Between 30th April and 6th May, all semi-finalists will be invited to participate in live broadcasts from REEF Mall when contestants will be interviewed and will be asked to sing – live on air.
The final rounds will take place between 7th and 13th May, again during live road-shows broadcast from REEF Mall. Three winners and three runner ups will be selected from each of Channel Four Radio Network’s stations: one winner and runner up from the Arabic station, one winner and runner up from the English station, and one winner and runner up the Urdu station.
Sponsors of the Radio Star Search include REEF Mall retailers: Home Centre who will award each winner Dhs 10,000 worth of gift vouchers each; Damas, who will award each winner a diamond valued at Dhs 10,000; Plug Ins, who will award each winner a Sony Playstation and games, and Karisma Beauty, who will award each winner Dhs 5,000 of beauty/grooming products. Runner up prizes will also be donated by each of the sponsors. Specially designed trophies are being created for the event by Dubai-based crystal specialists - Crystal Arc.
