French hypermarket Géant has opened its doors to customers in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Launched by the Fawaz Al-Hokair Group, the Riyadh Géant store is part of a project to open 12 or more hypermarkets throughout the Kingdom over the next five years.
"Our goal is to attract 10,000-15,000 customers per day," said chairman of Fawaz Al-Hokair, Fawaz Abdulaziz Al-Hokair. With a retail space of 10,000 square meters the hypermarket will feature 55,000 products including a grocery section, cosmetics, clothing and household appliances.
In the first phase of the Saudi expansion, Geant Saudi Ltd will open stores in Al-Khobar, Dammam and Jeddah. Further expansion, at a cost of 500 million Saudi riyals ($133 million), will see at least another dozen hypermarkets open across the Kingdom.
The Fawaz Al-Hokair Group is the exclusive agent for France's Groupe Casino International in Saudi Arabia. Géant hypermarkets contributes approximately 40 percent of Groupe Casino's annual sales. — (menareport.com)
