ALBAWABA - Renowned Hollywood actor Gene Hackman's death alongside his wife Betsy Arakawa and dog is still being reported, as authorities recently announced misidentifying a deceased dog during the investigation in Hackman's New Mexico home, according to AP.
The couple owned three dogs, a German shepherd named Bear, Nikita, and their kelpie mix, Zinna. According to Joey Padilla, owner of Santa Fe Tails pet care facility, both Bear and Nikita are alive, but Zinna unfortunately died alongside Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa.
Which Gene Hackman's dog died with him?
Zinna was found in a dog kennel in the house's bathroom closet and falsely identified as a "deceased brown in color German-Shepard canine," as a Sherrif spokesperson said. She stated further, "Our deputies, they don’t work with canines on a daily basis."
According to County Sheriff Adan Mendoza, authorities have been investigating the deaths of Hackman and Arakawa after their bodies were found half-mummified on February 26 who might've passed away approximately two weeks before being discovered.
Both Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa tested negative for Carbon Monoxide and no gas leaks were discovered on the house's premises. Arakawa was found dead with an open medicine bottle with pills scattered on the bathroom's countertop while Hackman's body was found in the house’s entryway.
Authorities are further investigating the matter after getting ahold of personal items such as a monthly planner and two phones. They also issued a toxicology test but the results will take weeks.
