ALBAWABA - Stranger Things Season 5 finale recently drew debate on social media due to a specific scene of Will Byers (played by Noah Schnapp) coming out as gay to his loved ones while the world is in danger.

While Byers's sexual orientation became a topic of debate as the beloved Netflix sci-fi series stacked up in seasons, the character finally revealed to his family and friends in the finale that he "doesn't like girls."

Schnapp told Variety, "I was worried that I might need to, but honestly, it was perfect. I really had no notes about it." The 21-year-old actor added that he "was just in tears" and that it was "perfect."

He added, "I was so wrapped up in my emotions and what I was feeling that I kind of blocked out everyone around me. I kind of had to because it was so nerve-racking to know that the entire cast was there watching me."

Schnapp stated further, "had Winona next to me, and the boys and Maya [Hawke] around me. It was all a blur. I don’t really remember anyone’s reactions, but watching it back, it was nice to see. It did feel genuine."

He revealed that the coming-out scene took several 12-hour days and a couple of reshoots to complete. However, the episode "Chapter Seven: The Bridge," which featured the scene, is now one of the series' lowest-rated episodes on IMDB, with a 6/10 rating from over 40,000 reviews.

One of the featured IMDb reviews described it as a "disappointment," criticizing its "bloated" pacing and writing. Another wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Season 5 of Stranger Things is so so bad. All time bad."
