Syrian actress Salma Al Masri has been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassdor for Syrian children with cancer, by the Syrian Institution for Treating Children with Cancer.
The institution said that Salma was chosen for the position due to her ongoing success as an artist and her endless contributions and participation in a number of charitable events in Syria in the past ten years. A well-deserved title it is then.
According to Elaph news, among the most important goals of the institution are to treat children with cancer, establish a specialized center for their treatment, and to research the different types of cancer children mostly suffer from in Syria. In addition, assistance will be given by the institution in terms of free medical treatment, specifically to the poor, and they’ll ensure that sufficient amounts of medicine are available to all cancer patients.
In 2012, the sultry star has announced that not only will she be staying in her home country, despite the civil war but also that she will continue working.
On another note, Salma will be taking part in three different productions in this year’s Ramadan TV series marathon. The first is her role as “Umm Dima” in the drama "Nisa’ Min Hatha Al Zaman" (Women from this Era), which is directed by Ahmad Ibrahim Ahmad and revolves around a woman who struggles with living with her sick husband and seeks to find a bright future and a better life for her daughter.
The second is a comedy drama and the sequel of "Super Family," which is directed by Fadi Salim and produced by “Shamiana Productions.”
The third and final drama - as if two aren’t enough! is the third part of "Zunoot El Sit" with director Tamer Ishaq.
