ALBAWABA - The Indian movie "The Goat Life" has gained mixed reactions from social media users, especially Gulf users, who decried the way, the film presented the sponsorship system in Saudi Arabia.
Although the director clarified in a note that: "The film does not intend to offend any country or people," many had a different opinion, as they considered it to be very "offensive" against Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, as well as "racist" towards Arabs.
A person commented on social media: "Unfortunately, the film is made as propaganda for the extremist Hindus inside India against Islam! They complain of injustice while they kill Muslims daily in the most heinous ways! And they help Israel in its war on Gaza with soldiers, weapons, propaganda and lies! So let's not make this filth succeed in our country by talking a lot about it and also fighting over it."
Meanwhile, another said that the movie has taken only one point of view about Saudi Arabia and made up a whole idea claiming that all Saudis treat foreigners in the same way, which is something wrong.
The netizen said: "The Goat Life is an Indian film production, and it contains a lot of slander and defamation against Saudi Arabia and its good people, because it may have been inspired by an individual and rare case and applied it to the Saudi people to show the world that our Saudi brothers treat expatriate workers in the same humiliating way, and this is an exaggeration."
The hashtag "#فلم_حياه_الماعز_لايمثلنا," Which means (The Goat Life movie doesn't represent us), was trending across many social media platforms in many GCC countries amid anger over the Indian movie which is based on a true story.
