Miley Cyrus rocks the Grammys with a dress made of 14,000 gold safety pins.

Miley Cyrus, the pop sensation and six-time Grammy nominee, turned heads on the red carpet on Sunday night by wearing a daring dress that seemed to be made entirely of gold safety pins.

The custom-made gown, designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, took 675 hours to create and featured 14,000 gold safety pins strategically placed to form a circular motif at the chest and a thong-like effect at the waist.

The singer, who was nominated for her album Endless Summer Vacation and her hit singles “Flowers” and “Used to Be Young”, paired the stunning dress with velvet tabi heels by Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela, and Elsa Peretti jewelry from Tiffany & Co. She completed the look with a glamorous makeup and a voluminous '70s-inspired hairstyle that could have been a tribute to her godmother and mentor, Dolly Parton.

Cyrus’ dress was a homage to an earlier design by Galliano, who used safety pins in his work for his own label and for Dior. The original dress was part of his fall 1997 collection and was worn by supermodel Naomi Campbell on the runway. Cyrus, who has always been adventurous with her fashion choices, updated the iconic look with her own flair and attitude.

The singer performed “Flowers” on the Grammys stage, delivering a powerful and emotional rendition of the song that earned her rave reviews from fans and critics alike. She also joined Brandi Carlile on stage for their duet “Thousand Miles”, which was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

Cyrus, who has been in the spotlight since her childhood, has reinvented herself several times throughout her career, from the Disney starlet to the controversial twerker to the mature and versatile artist she is today. Her latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, was praised for its eclectic mix of genres and influences, from pop and rock to country and folk. Cyrus has also been vocal about her personal life, her sexuality, and her activism, using her platform to support various causes and charities.
