ALBAWABA - Court seeks prison sentence for Mabel Matiz over song “Perperişan”.
Mabel Matiz, a Turkish singer, is in a lot of legal trouble. An accusation has been made against him in Istanbul for the song "Perperişan." They say that the words are rude and bad for kids.
The charge calls for a jail term of six months to three years. The government says the song "incites sexual desire" and uses sexy language. They say that everyone can understand the words and that age restrictions should have been put in place.
The Ankara Criminal Court of Peace made it impossible to get to the track. The Ministry of Family and Social Services asked for the decision to be made. The government said the song was bad for public health and order. Because of the ruling, the song was taken down from sites like Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.
Fatih Karaca, who goes by the stage name Mabel Matiz, has rejected the charges. He told the police that there was no intention to do anything inappropriate. He said that the song was his writing but that he had only played it once, at a concert in September 2025. He later took it off his set list.
Matiz wrote on the internet, "I want to believe that public order and our health are not at a level where they can be disrupted by a single song." He thanked the people who supported him and said that he forgives anyone who was hurt.
Matiz has also been told not to travel by the court. In other words, he can't leave Turkey while the probe lasts. People are worried about his shows planned around the world later this year because of the ban.
It was because of reports sent through CěMER, the Presidential Communication Center, that the Ministry of Family and Social Services took action. People said that the lyrics were bad for kids' morals and growth.
