ALBAWABA - The fact that famous people are doing little to stop the Israeli aggression on the Palestinians has angered many activists on social media who decided to take a step forward.
Pro-Palestinian activists believe that celebrities' power to stop what is happening in Gaza comes at the price of anyone's power to stop it.
A campaign called "#Blockout2024" has been launched on social media platforms where activists block all celebrities and personalities who attended the Met Gala night which happened to fall on the same day the Israeli army decided to take on operation in Rafah.
"For a list of famous people to block, visit @blockout.2024," a person said as the account has already prepared a list of celebs that have been silent about the Gaza war during which at least 34,904 Palestinians have been killed since Oct. 7.
Kim Kardashian was the main person to be affected by the campaign as she suddenly lost three million followers. Amidst the world's enchantment with the Met Gala's magnificence, there arose a protest.
"No one is paying attention," many activists were angered after the Met Gala took more echo than the Palestinians' plight, so they have been demanding that everyone block the accounts of celebrities who have not publicly supported Palestine.
Moreover, they added: "If these celebrities can't use their influence to save lives, then why are we giving them power."
Kim Kardashian has suddenly seen a loss of three million followers, especially after being confronted by a pro-Palestinian while in Hamburg, Germany to attend the 2024 OMR Festival on Tuesday (May 8).
In southern Gaza, Rafah currently there are 1.4 million displaced Palestinians, half of whom are children, seeking shelter, however, Israel decided to go along with its ground operation forcing more displacement.
