ALBAWABA - After the fall of Bashar Assad's regime last December, horrific stories have emerged from the famous Syrian Sednaya Prison, which is also known as the "human slaughterhouse".

Syrian writer Samer Radwan revealed on his Facebook page that filming has begun for the series "Al Khoroj Men Al-Bear" [Coming Out to the Well].

He said that the story, screenplay, and dialogue were written by Radwan, while the series is directed by Mohamed Lotfi.

The Syrian series will be filmed between Beirut and Damascus and will depict a historical period of years lived by detainees inside Sednaya Prison in Damascus.

Reports indicate that director Mohamed Lotfy selected a number of real filming locations and gathered accounts from their owners detailing their experiences of torture prior to the fall of the previous regime in December 2014.

Star Jamal Suleiman spent several days in Beirut as filming commenced, dedicating himself fully to this project, which is expected to garner high viewership. (Nawa3em)
