ALBAWABA - Ian McKellen revealed a surprising Trump joke while filming Magneto.
During an action sequence in "Avengers: Doomsday," in which the 87-year-old actor returns as his renowned "X-Men" villain Magneto, Ian McKellen disclosed at a recent film festival in Rome (via The Guardian) that he directed his anger on Donald Trump. The Russo Brothers, the film's directors, told McKellen "to look more furious" in a sequence where Magneto uses his powers to cause chaos.
“[They told me to] make it look as if you hate what you’re destroying,” McKellen said. “So I stood there and I shouted, 'Mar-a-Lago!'"
Trump has owned Mar-a-Lago, a resort in Palm Beach, Florida, since 1985. During his presidencies, he has had meetings with world leaders on the property, which he frequently visits. The audience at the Cinema in Piazza festival, which features free outdoor screenings and Q&As, laughed at McKellen's jab at Trump.
In the past, Ian McKellen has criticized Trump. The actor from "X-Men" and "Lord of the Rings" chastised Trump for failing to defend LGBTQ+ rights during his first term in office in 2017. McKellen told Variety, "It's appalling and quite unnecessary and very un-American," as the White House ignored Pride Month at the time and reversed the Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order, which many claimed would expose LGBTQ+ employees to prejudice. America was the birthplace of the homosexual rights movement. It started in Stonewall, San Francisco, the city where Donald Trump was born and raised.

At the time, McKellen remarked, "I can't follow Mr. Trump." "I don't always understand what he says, and when I do, I have to acknowledge that I was mistaken because he later changed his mind about what he said. "I think he's a terrible communicator. Donald, please be more direct. After that, we can take you seriously.
