ALBAWABA - Portuguese football Cristiano Ronaldo has met with the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, at the New World Sports Conference for 2023, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, yesterday, Monday.

The Al-Nasr Saudi Club star expressed his happiness with this meeting in a tweet that he shared on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), which is followed by more than 110 million users.

Ronaldo wrote: "An honour to meet again with His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman and great to be part of this panel today discussing the future of esports and the launch of the first ever #esportsworldcup that will be held in Saudi Arabia next year!"

Cristiano accompanied his tweet with a series of photos taken during the conference, where Mohammed bin Salman announced to launch the Electronic Sports World Cup scheduled to be held in Riyadh city on an annual basis, starting from 2024 summer.

The football star also shared a photo album of himself and Mohammed bin Salman with his 609 million followers on Instagram.

In one of the photos, Ronaldo appears shaking hands with the Saudi Crown Prince, and one commentator wrote: "Congratulations to all those involved in organizing and planning this momentous event. The future of esports looks brighter than ever, and I eagerly await the success and impact of the first-ever #esportsworldcup in Saudi Arabia next year."

Another tweep commented: "This photo brings together the first man in the world with whom the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia competes with the world in all fields, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with the first man in the world of football currently and one of the stars in the history of football, Cristiano Ronaldo."

In addition to Cristiano Ronaldo and the Saudi Crown Prince, a number of prominent sports figures were present at the conference, including Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
