ALBAWABA - Singer D4vd linked to Tesla discovery of missing teen Celeste Rivas.
The badly decaying body found in a Tesla at a Los Angeles impound lot belonged to an up-and-coming singer named D4vd. It was recognized as that of a missing teen from the Inland Empire, and a murder investigation may soon begin.
Celeste Rivas, 15, had not been seen or heard from in almost 18 months before her body was found at Hollywood Tow on September 8. After the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said that the girl had a tattoo on her right index finger that said "Shhh..." Rivas was found. The L.A. Times reported this week that her mother called TMZ because she thought this was her daughter. The medical examiner is still figuring out how and why Rivas died. The examination is taking longer than normal because the body was badly broken down.
The body was found badly broken down inside a car, according to a statement from the medical examiner's office. "She seems to have been dead inside the car for a long time before she was found deceased."
When the owner of the Tesla was found, Rivas's body parts were found in a bag in the front trunk of the car. This sad case quickly got more attention.
D4vd became famous on TikTok and SoundCloud when he was 20 years old in 2022. His career took off quickly, and he was opening for SZA and playing at Coachella before his first album even came out. Now, 32 million people listen to D4vd every month on Spotify, and they have a deal with Darkroom/Interscope. His first album, Withered, came out in April. He told The Hollywood Reporter in May that most of the vocals on it were taped on an iPhone in his sister's closet.
He was born David Burke in Queens, New York. His mother wanted him to be a genius, so she raised him as a Christian and tuned him into church and classical music. When he was young, his family moved to Houston, where he spent his formative years. But his job took him to Los Angeles, where he currently lives in the Hollywood Hills but has not yet bought a home. A call to homicide officers about a bad smell coming from an abandoned car led to the discovery of Rivas' body. The car has a Texas license plate.
Due to the news about the case, D4vd's tour date in Seattle on Wednesday night had to be canceled. On Friday, his shows at the Fillmore in San Francisco tonight and the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday have also been canceled, as seen on the ticket website AXS.
Burke was on his Withered World Tour promoting his first album when the car was found. A source told NBC News L.A. that Burke is helping detectives look into his possible ties to Rivas. Detectives are looking at pictures of Rivas from 2024 to try to figure out why she might have been in the area and if she has anything to do with Burke. There has been no mention of a person of interest in the case. At this point, the police are waiting for word from the medical examiner on whether to continue with this case as a murder or look into other options. The Robbery-Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department is in charge of the death case right now.
The singer owns several cars, including the Tesla where Rivas's body was found. A top LAPD source told ABC News this week that the cars may have been used by many people at the same time.

The Hollywood Reporter sent messages to Universal Music Group on Friday afternoon asking for comments from the singer's rep and lawyer, but the messages were not answered right away. Once we get in touch with the singer's reps, this story will be changed.
