ALBAWABA - It seems even your car needs an ad blocker now! Furious BMW owners recently took to social media with videos claiming they received a pop-up ad for Marvel's "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" movie on their in-car screens.

BMW did disclose that the animation does not autoplay.

Owners were shocked to learn this, as BMW is known for its "luxury" vehicles that range from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Backlash also erupted after owners accused the German automaker of using their personal cars for marketing.

BMW owners furious over in-car 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' ad

An owner took to the German automaker's subreddit and wrote following a video of the Spider-Man ad, "Got this commercial in my car today as part of the Spider-Man - Brand New Day campaign."

A user responded, "Paying 50-100k for a car, yet still getting ADs...next we need adblocker for cars i guess?"

Another jokingly wrote, "Wait till you get the new U2 album OTA update!!!!"

This occurred despite promises from BMW that it will not use its in-car screens for advertising.

According to The New York Post, owners would receive a banner when the car starts, and upon clicking it, are met with the 19-second, full-screen ad that featured dynamic lighting, animation, and music, showcasing that this might have been more than just an afterthought from the German automaker. Reports state that the ad, which launched on July 27, is expected to roll till August 10 on BMW vehicles built after July 2020.
