ALBAWABA - Billie Eilish attacked Donald Trump during her Nashville performance on Wednesday night, stating, "Someone who hates women so deeply is about to be the president."
On November 6, the day Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, Billie Eilish announced her "Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour" at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.
On her Instagram story earlier in the day, the singer of "Birds of a Feather" wrote the straightforward phrase, "It's a war on women."
The Grammy-winning singer informed the audience that she "couldn't really fathom doing a show on this day" when she woke up that morning, after the announcement of Trump as the U.S. election victor, according to fan-captured footage. However, as the day progressed, she expressed a growing sense of gratitude for the opportunity to perform for you all.
She then discussed her personal experience with abuse and dedicated her 2022 song, "TV," which alludes to the reversal of Roe v. Wade, to the women in the audience.
She said, "I want you to know that you're safe in this room, safe with me, and protected here." The song we're about to perform is about the mistreatment of women in our world, and it resonates with many of the situations I've experienced and those I know others have encountered. To be quite honest, I have never met a woman who hasn't experienced abuse. Not one.
"I've dealt with some stuff myself, and I've been taken advantage of," Billie Eilish said. To put it kindly, my boundaries were breached, and now a person who is a convicted predator, let's say, is going to be president of the United States of America. My heart is racing, my god. I dedicate this song to all women around the world. I stand by you, and I adore you.
Author E. Jean Carroll filed a legal lawsuit against Trump last year, and the court held him guilty for sexual assault. Despite the court forcing him to pay her $5 million in damages, the trial did not result in a criminal conviction. More than two dozen women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct over his career. He has refuted every accusation.
After singing the line, "The internet's gone wild watching movie stars on trial/while they're overturning Roe v. Wade," Billie Eilish played "TV," pausing about halfway through the song. She conveyed a powerful message by leaving the stage after standing silently in front of the audience.
