Many Muslims believe that singing is (haram) forbidden in their religion. However, Emirati singer Ahlam begs to differ!

The feisty diva said in a recent interview that she hasn't found any verses in the Quran that forbid singing, adding that "it's a job, just like any other job."

It's no secret that Ahlam wants to become an Islamic preacher when her music career comes to an end, meaning that she is a devout Muslim and is well-read on her religion.

Ahlam said in the same interview that she regularly reads up on the lives of Prophets and enjoys educating herself on Islam.

It's no surprise that Ahlam's interests lean towards theology, since she was a top graduate of the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Dubai before becoming a singer.

But since the larger-than-life starlet is a practicing Muslim, why does she insist on going against its teachings by showing off her expensive jewelry, luxurious holidays and other things that us mere mortals can only dream of owning?

Ahlam said that she's not showing off her jewelry but rather "dressing up and looking her best for her fans, not for herself."

Do you think Ahlam should become a preacher after a fruitful career in music?
