ALBAWABA In a tragic incident in Quevedo, Ecuador, former Miss Ecuador contestant Landy Párraga Goyburo(LANDY PARRAGA) was shot and killed by two armed assailants in broad daylight.
Surveillance footage captured the distressing moment when Párraga was conversing with a man at a restaurant, only to be ambushed by the attackers who opened fire, injuring both Párraga and the man she was with. The assailants quickly fled the scene after the shooting.
Párraga, who represented the province of Los Rios in the Miss Ecuador 2022 competition, was reportedly in Quevedo to attend a wedding.
The 23-year-old beauty queen, known for her social media presence and her own sportswear line, gained attention last December when her name was mentioned in a conversation between Leandro Norero, a deceased drug trafficker, and his accountant Helive Angulo.
Norero allegedly sought to conceal his association with Párraga, fearing repercussions if his connection to her was discovered.
Despite scrutiny from the Attorney General’s Office regarding her finances, Párraga was never charged with any crime and had not publicly addressed her ties to Norero and his organization.
Her final Instagram post, made just days before her death, featured a contemplative message about the consequences of one's actions.
Authorities are currently investigating the murder, which has sent shockwaves through the community.
