ALBAWABA - A man in China made headlines after being caught by customs for trying to smuggle more than 100 live snakes in his trousers.

The incident in question had the man slip out of Hong Kong into Shenzhen, China with more than 100 snakes stuffed in his trousers according to local customs authorities, as reported by The Guardian.

A statement found by The Guardian read, "Upon inspection, customs officers discovered that the pockets of the trousers the passenger was wearing were packed with six canvas drawstring bags and sealed with tape."

Border officers cracked down and found 104 snakes of different sizes and colors that were put in different zip lock bags including milk snakes and corn snakes which are not native to China.

This doesn't come as a surprise since China is considered one of the biggest hubs for illegal animal trafficking. Still, authorities have been more focused on catching individuals like this man in recent years.

Chinese authorities made one thing clear, "Those who break the rules will be … held liable under the law," but have not specified the punishment for the smuggler who was not named.

China forbids anyone to smuggle animals that are not native to its land without permission.
