The annual World Happiness Report, overseen by the United Nations, has unveiled its latest findings, with Finland retaining its title as the happiest country globally for the seventh consecutive year.

International Day of Happiness

The report, released on Wednesday in commemoration of the UN's International Day of Happiness, highlights significant shifts in happiness rankings across the world.

In the Arab world, Kuwait emerges as the frontrunner, securing the top spot in happiness rankings within the region and ranking 13th worldwide. This marks a substantial advancement for Kuwait, which previously held the 50th position globally.

Conversely, Lebanon finds itself at the bottom of the happiness index among Arab nations, following Jordan (125th) and Egypt (127th).

Scandinavian countries dominate the upper echelons of the happiness index, with Denmark clinching the second position, trailed by Iceland and Sweden. France occupies the 27th spot in the global rankings.

Notably, the United States and Germany, absent from the top 20 happiest countries for the first time in over a decade, secure the 23rd and 24th positions, respectively. The report excludes the most populous nations from its rankings.

Since 2012, the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network has been publishing the World Happiness Report, evaluating happiness levels worldwide. The methodology involves opinion polls gauging personal happiness, juxtaposed with economic and social indicators such as gross domestic product, solidarity, individual freedom, and corruption.
