With the aim of promoting access to university education for all youth and creating a more just society, the Mubaderat initiative has drawn up a “clear action plan” for 2020, according to the initiative’s team leader.

“In our society, a person without a proper education faces difficulties in furthering their career and will have fewer chances of surviving,” Hiba Habib said on Thursday.

The initiative’s team works to affirm the importance of knowledge, with a belief in its power to help youth escape the cycle of poverty through impacting not only the educated individuals, but their family members as well, she added.

In order to continue supporting youth in their educational journeys, Mubaderat’s action plan for 2020 aims to increase its contributions and donations and expand its influence, Habib noted.

Founded in 2017, Mubaderat is an initiative “brimming with around 35 optimistic women of various ages”, gathered together to help young people obtain a degree by combining engaging educational programmes with support for underprivileged students, Habib said.

In cooperation with Hayat Fund, a non-profit organisation, Mubaderat has outlined a vision for supporting young people who cannot cover tuition expenses through activities, workshops, trips and other contributions whose profits go towards covering these educational costs.

Some of the initiative’s members are still university students, so they provide a “valuable linkage” between the teams’ objectives and the needs of the youth, Habib added.

Team member Salma Bahaa said that the team aims to support youth education in a range of disciplines, allowing them to influence a large segment of society.

Bahaa highlighted the importance of having a positive social impact, adding that Mubaderat “expands the potential of young people who will later make a change in society”.
