Two people were killed on Tuesday after a five-story building collapsed in Cairo’s Shubra neighborhood.

Civil Protection Forces were dispatched to the scene of the incident and found the two bodies under the rubble.

The deceased victims were transferred in an ambulance to the morgue while the Civil Protection Forces are continuing to search through the rubble for other victims.

The building’s legal documents are currently being checked by the local authorities.

Despite the existence of rigorous laws regulating the construction and maintenance of buildings in Egypt, the lack of sufficient implementation by authorities has resulted in many buildings collapsing in recent years.
