‘To Our Countries’ is an 8 minute and 44 second plea to the Arab world to take action against the injustice and suffering sweeping the Middle East. It was launched October 9 and has been watched over 250,000 times in three days, its eloquently produced message bringing viewers to both tears and joy.
The video is a project produced by a group of youths who live in Sweden and are originally from Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Iraq. In the video are Faia and Rihan Younan, two young Syrians living in Stockholm. Uniting their passions, the duo created a heartbreakingly exquisite tribute to Iraq, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon; summarizing the mixture of pain and hope that reverberates the troubled region.
In an interview with ADFA, Fia said “She is the journalist. And I started to sing — for every country she mentioned I came up with a song,”
Here’s something she wrote on Facebook when sharing the video.
“Different TVchannels have already talked about the video in less than 48 hours! I’m so overwhelmed by all the comments and views. I’ve read and heard too many words that touch me deep in my heart. I might actually faint from all the support We never thought this would go this viral, all we wanted was to try and express in a simple idea, pain and hope, tears and smiles, black and white, something all of the middle east is experiencing… Thanks to everyone who helped spread this! And thanks for making my inbox explode with love!”
