KSA's Department of Self-Abuse, within The Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution, is investigating the death of a 29-year-old Saudi woman, in cooperation with the Al Kakeyyeh city police department in the holy capital Mecca.
The unidentified woman's uterus is reported by the conservative Saudi publication Sabq to have 'exploded' following a dodgy home abortion attempt. The Mecca resident is believed to have taken abortion pills to terminate the baby she was illegitimately carrying from a pre-marital relationship, something strictly forbidden in Islam.
Investigations revealed that the deceased was six-months pregnant. During those months, her repeat attempts to abort the fetus failed. She had also desperately tried to push the baby's father into marrying her, but to no avail.
It was further revealed that the young woman had acquired pills designed for the abortion of a fetus before the third month of gestation. She had then entered her bedroom where she took a portion of the pills, while allegedly inserting the rest into her vagina. The action resulted in her uterus hemorrhaging (reported in Arab press as 'exploding'). The severe bleeding accompanied the instant death of mother and fetus.
Those who were present in the same household tried to save her life on the spot, oblivious to the details. She was rushed to the emergency room of Al Nour Speciality Hospital, but died before any treatment was given to her.
A case was immediately filed to determine the supplier of the abortion pills, and a DNA sample was taken to determine the father of the baby.
The DNA results are pending, while a number of suspects have been interrogated by The Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution. The investigation team are further looking into the woman's telephone records to probe any relationships she had with any men.
