A pizza delivery boy pleaded guilty in court yesterday to secretly filming two female compatriots in the shower in their shared villa.
Prosecutors charged the pizza delivery boy, A.K., 31, a Filipino, with molesting M.K., 35, and R.L., 28, and breaching their privacy by secretly filming them while they were taking a shower.
"Yes, Sir, I am guilty. I turned on the camera in my Blackberry and fixed the phone in the duct of the air-conditioning system… I recorded footage of them showering," said A.K. before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the defendant had violated the women's modesty by capturing indecent footage while they were undressed and taking a shower.
According to forensic experts with Dubai Police, the Blackberry contains a 50-minute video clip showing the women entering the shower, undressing and bathing.
M.K. testified that her friend R.L. had informed her about finding a Blackberry hidden in the AC duct of the villa they lived in.
"The phone belonged to the suspect. When we checked the files saved on the phone, we discovered that most of it showed us naked and taking a shower in the washroom. Thereafter, we reported the matter to the police," M.K. told the prosecutor. Meanwhile, R.L. confirmed M.K.'s statement.
An Emirati policeman, who detained the defendant, said: "When I questioned the suspect, he admitted that he had fixed his Blackberry in the washroom to take video footage of the women taking a shower.
"He confessed that he had committed a mistake and promised not to repeat it. He asked me for forgiveness."
Presiding judge Hamad Abdul Latif Abdul Jawad will deliver the verdict on January 5.
