Three members of the international feminist group FEMEN, including the now notorious Aliaa Elmahdy, stormed a mosque in Stockholm in a topless protest before being led away by police.
Bursting into the mosque, the ladies tore off the hijabs they wore when they entered the religious building to bare their breasts, which were emblazoned with slogans such as "no sharia in Egypt and the world" and "my body is mine, not somebody's honour", according to AFP.
During their demonstration, the women shouted "Free Women!", "No Sharia!" and "No Oppression".
The mosque was largely empty when the protest took place, according to AFP, who said that the only eyewitnesses were mosque employees and members of the press who were tipped off about the rude entry in advance.
Egyptian activist Aliaa Elmahdy, who shot to fame across the world after blogging a naked picture of herself as a way to protest Egypt's social structure, was also part of the demonstration, according to AFP.
"They're suspected of disorderly conduct and abuse," police commander Jonas Svalin told AFP, adding that mosque employees had accused the activists of shoving them.
Although the nationalities of the women involved have not been confirmed by police, it is believed they are from Egypt, Tunisia and Sweden.
Originally founded in Ukraine in 2008, FEMEN describes itself as a "radical feminist" group that has trademarked topless protests. It often demonstrates against the sexual exploitation of women, societal sexism and religion.
