Egyptian Public Prosecutor Justice Abdulmajid Mahmoud on Monday ordered that former president Mohammad Hosni Mubarak be moved from Al-Maadi Hospital to Al-Mazraa (the farm) Prison in Torah neighborhood, south Cairo.
"The decision is based on the results of a medical probe panel, set up under a order by Justice Mahmoud on July 4, to verify the Mubarak's health would not be endangered by return to the jail," Spokesman for the Prosecution Justice Adel Al-Saeed told reporters here.
"The panel reviewed Mubarak's medical file and his medication and checked up on him before deciding unanimously that returning him to prison poses no risks to his health," Justice Al-Saeed revealed.
He affirmed that Mubarak's health condition is stable and generally good given his old age.
Justice Al-Saeed added that the Ministry of Interior and the Prison Service have been officially informed of the Public Prosecutor's decision in order to act on it.
On June 2, Cairo Criminal Court sentenced the former president and his interior minister Habib Al-Adeli to file for counts relating to the bloody crackdown on the peaceful protesters during the revolution of January 25, 2011.
