A 16-year-old girl threw herself off the third floor of her Tripoli home to be with her boyfriend waiting for her downstairs after her parents forbade her from seeing him, a security source said.
According to the source, the girl, who resides in Tripoli’s Beddawi neighborhood was set to meet her boyfriend who was waiting for her on the ground floor of the building.
The girl’s parents barred her from seeing the young man, which in turn prompted the teenage girl to jump off her balcony.
According to the source, the boyfriend tried to catch the girl but was unsuccessful because she was overweight.
She was rushed to the nearby Moulla Hospital in Tripoli after sustaining bone fractures as a result of the fall. Her condition is currently stable.
