The Lebanese Army foiled an overnight attempt to smuggle a large quantity of Captagon pills hidden inside plastic potatoes outside the country.

The state-run National News Agency said that the military cooperated with security agencies in the Bekaa Valley in an operation that turned up about 400,400 Captagon pills stashed inside the plastic potatoes in the eastern city of Zahle.

NNA said that Syrian workers had agreed with a drug dealer to conceal the pills inside a truck loaded with real potatoes travelling outside Lebanon in a refrigerated truck.

The army confiscated the drugs and detained several suspects.
