Finally, the secret to longer living that we have all been waiting for: become an Israeli man?!

Okay, not quite, but Haaretz reported late last week that Israeli men have the fourth longest life expectancy in the world!

Men in Israel live an average of 80.2 years, "lived out" only by their counterpart males in Iceland (81.2), Switzerland (80.7) and Australia (80.5), according to a World Health Organization report published Thursday.

Israeli women do okay too: While not in the top 10 globally compared to their other female counterparts, Israeli women are outliving Israel's males with an average life expectancy of 84 years (Japanese women top the list with average life expectancy of 87 years)!

So what is the Israeli long-life secret? A healthy diet full of olives and Mediterranean delights? Plenty of sun (and dancing) on Tel Aviv's beaches?

Perhaps, in part, but the report, which polled 194 countries and shows that long living is on the rise globally, with male and females born in the new millenium expected to outlive their respective 90s counterparts on average in both low and high-income countries.
