The governor made this comment on Saturday while receiving the president and members of the society at his office in Makkah.

“Since its formation, Saudi Arabia has taken the Holy Quran as its constitution and the Prophet’s Sunnah its program,” Prince Khaled said and emphasized the importance of Quran commentary.

“We should work according to the teachings of the Quran and meditate and memorize its verses,” the governor said, and called for making use of modern means to teach the Quran.

Sheikh Nawaf bin Abdul Muttalib Al-Sharief, president of the charitable society, briefed the governor on his organization’s activities in encouraging young men and women to memorize the Quran and understand the meaning of its verses.

“The members of the society listened to the governor’s directives on improving its activities making use of modern technology,” Al-Sharief said.

“Prince Khaled urged everybody to abide by the teachings of the Quran in all walks of their lives and give proper education to the younger generation to understand its teachings,” he said.

He commended the government’s generous support to Quran memorization societies in all parts of the country. “These societies play a big role in teaching the Quran to tens of thousands of young men and women in the country,” he added.
