A man in Dubai is being sued for divorce because he demands Dh500 ($136) every time his wife uses his car or he goes out with her.
The Arab man - who is currently unemployed - claims that spending time with his wife is a time away from his friends. It is a service and he should be compensated for it, as per a report in Al Bayan.
His logic was, "An employed woman should help her unemployed husband."
The first time she gave him the Dh500 ($136) in return for going out with her in his car, she assumed it would last only for one time. But to her surprise, he kept asking money every time she wanted to go out.
His wife refused to pay him the Dh500 ($136) and remained at home instead of allowing the situation to escalate.
After a month, the wife decided this was intolerable and decided to seek divorce rather than continue this arrangement.
