Egypt Court Jails Undersecretary of Health Ministry Amid Bribe Case Investigation

The first General Prosecutor of East Alexandria Mustafa Hany jailed the undersecretary of the Health Ministry in Alexandria Magdy Hegazi for four days pending investigations over charges of requesting bribes from a governmental employee.

Hany released the employee with a payment of LE30, 000 ($1,699) bail after the prosecution accused him of offering a bribe.

Bab Sharki Alexandria prosecution initiated investigations with the head of the prosecution Abdel Aziz Sami and director of the prosecution Mohammed Abdel Maged on Wednesday night.

Officers of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) arrested Hegazi in Alexandria Health Directorate and put him under investigation after the governmental employee accused Hegazi of requesting a cell phone to transfer him to another post.

The ACA took permission from the public prosecution to hear the voice recordings between Hegazi and the governmental employee.
