As tributes flooded in for the passing of the Saudi's King Abdullah, so too did the announcements of official days of mourning from Arab and Middle Eastern leaders.

The UAE declared a three-day mourning period, as did Lebanon. The Palestinian Authority's leader, President Abbas, decided three days was a good amount too.

Turkey appeared stingy in comparison, giving just one. Egypt appeared pretty generous with the news of seven days of official mourning. No one could beat that could they?

Well the country may be tiny, but it seems Bahrain didn't want to be outdone. The country may have gone a little overboard though giving a staggering 40 days. Or maybe not, since it wasn't the only one!

Not wanting to be outshone, Jordan decided it too needed to declare 40 days for the mourning period. The Hashemite Kingdom's king swiftly cancelled his planned trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos to attend the late Saudi king's funeral too.

So Bahrain and Jordan are at the top of the leader board. But will any of the other contenders jump to first place?
