The Abu Dhabi Court of Appeal on Wednesday announced that it will hold a verdict next month on the case of a Pakistani man accused of raping and strangling his 11-year-old nephew.
The murder of Azan Majid Janjua took place in May, 2017.
During today’s hearing, the defendant’s lawyer pleaded his client’s innocence due to the lack of evidence. The accused also denied all the charges brought against him in the Court of Appeal.
Gulf News previously reported that on November 27, 2017, the accused was handed the death penalty by firing squad, and was also ordered to pay an exemplenary compensation of Dh200,000 to the victim’s family.
