What Daesh? Iraq to build new solar, wind power stations

Iraq's electricity ministry has invited expressions of interest from major companies for the construction of three solar power stations and a wind power plant.

These plants, that boast a capacity of between 5 and 10 MW, will be located at Diwaniya, Najaf and Missan (Maysan) provinces, reported the Iraq Business News.

A power station will come up on a sprawling 50,000 sq m land at Dagharah area, while another one will be built on a 50,000 to 60,000 sq m site at Al-Suniyah area.

At Najaf region, the solar power station will come up on a massive 200,000 sq m area at Al Haideriyah. The wind power station will be built at Ali Al Gharbi area, said the report.

All these projects are being developed in co-ordination with the National Investment Commission (NIC). The last date for submitting the letter of interest is May 13, it added.
