ALBAWABA - As Discord introduces its new age restriction feature that automatically changes all accounts into "teen by default settings" until proven otherwise via ID, users have started searching for alternatives in concern for their privacy.
The development team released a statement that read, "Discord is not requiring everyone to complete a face scan or upload an ID to use Discord. The vast majority of people can continue using Discord exactly as they do today, without ever being asked to confirm their age."
The "teen by default settings" restricts users from several features, including no access to NSFW servers and channels, automatic filters on NSFW content, warnings of unfamiliar friend requests, speaking in stage channels, and direct messages getting filtered into a separate inbox.
Users will be able to use Discord without restrictions if they provide the platform with a face scan or a photo of their ID, which triggered privacy concerns from users who took to other platforms in search of an alternative communication application.
