The Union of Arab Banks announced Wednesday it will be holding its next congress based on "the challenge facing the restructuring of Arab economic and financial cooperation" in a major Beirut hotel November 1 to 4.
The congress, sponsored by Lebanese President Emile Lahoud, will be attended by the secretary general of the Arab League Esmat Abdel Meguid and should bring together some 600 Arab and international personalities, according to a statement published by the official news agency ANI.
Three main subjects will be debated: Arab economic and financial cooperation, liberalization of trade in services in the Arab world, and the transformation of monetary institutions amidst the electronic revolution.
The Union of Arab Banks was established in 1975 and comprises 300 Arab banks.
