The latest visit of UAE business delegates to Slovakia earlier this year, was geared toward the development of a wider base of mutual business contacts between the two countries.
According to SITA, the Slovak Press Agency, this mission, headed by Rashid Al Ghazal, was geared toward the furthering of cooperation in all fields of trade as well as tourism. The mission’s agenda was organized by the Slovak Trade Center, the Dubai-based representative of the Slovak Foreign Trade Promotion Fund (FPZO). In 1999, this organization coordinated the schedules of visiting members from 96 Slovak firms, along with 13 business missions.
The FPZO representative in Dubai, Dusan Horniak, was reported by SITA as saying that he sees opportunities for intensifying bilateral economic relations between the two countries. The sectors targeted for cooperation include crude-oil processing and power, construction projects, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, health-care equipment, furniture, textile, glass products, footwear, foodstuffs and chemicals. In addition, the tourist industry was discussed, as hundreds of tourists from the Emirates visit Slovak spas every year. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
