ALBAWABA - Japanese tech giant PlayStation took to its official X account (formerly Twitter) to celebrate its newest milestone thanks to Insomniac's Spider-Man 2.
Sony said in the tweet that Spider-Man 2 has sold more than 2.5 million copies in its first 24 hours making it PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling game but take in mind that they referred to it as “sold through” rather than shipped.
Sold-through copies are also sent to retailers which doesn't always indicate that a customer purchased the item. Additionally, it could also mean the number of copies sold digitally including all editions.

Before Spider-Man 2's successful launch, Santa Monica Studio's God of War: Ragnorok held the title for PlayStation Studios' fastest-selling game which sold 5.1 million copies in a span of a week. According to VGC, figures for the first 24 hours weren't recorded.
God of War: Ragnorok held the title since its release on Nov. 9, 2022, till it was dethroned by Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Before Ragnarok, came Naughty Dog's The Last of Us 2 which sold more than 4 million copies in its first three days which is an impressive number since the game was banned in the Middle East.
Then came Marvel's Spider-Man 2's prequel which sold 3.3 million copies sold in its first three days.
