ALBAWABA - In a significant reveal during CES 2024, Sony showcased cutting-edge technology, with a spotlight on its latest augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) glasses designed for "spatial content creation and 3D design." The unnamed glasses, resembling PlayStation VR2 but sporting a more minimalist matte gray finish, stand out as a noteworthy addition.

Fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform, these AR/VR glasses operate independently, delivering a 4K OLED viewing experience through dual micro displays. Boasting a total of six cameras and sensors for comprehensive user and environmental tracking, Sony positions its creation at the forefront of innovation.

Sony asserts that these glasses empower users to craft 3D models and manipulate virtual objects in real-time. The package includes two controllers: a "marking controller" and a compact "ring controller" worn on the fingers.

The design of the glasses emphasizes comfort for extended and creative use, with a unique feature allowing the display section to rotate upwards, facilitating a return to the real world without removing the glasses entirely.

According to Sony's official statement, users can explore spatial projects online through third-party applications. The CES 2024 presentation showcased the intriguing demonstration of controlling a virtual robot arm using the provided controllers.

While the release date and official name of these glasses, positioned as competitors to Apple Vision Pro, remain undisclosed, Sony's advancements in camera, display, and controller technologies indicate a robust entry into the realm of spatial content creation.
