ALBAWABA - Snapchat users will soon be able to buy products on Amazon without having to leave the social media platform, as announced by the giant American e-commerce site, confirming information previously reported by the media.
Snapchat's stock rose by over 7% on Wall Street, reaching $12.15.
In-app sales will include some products promoted on Snapchat and sold on Amazon.
A spokesperson for Amazon stated, "Customers in the United States will see real-time prices and benefit from the savings available to them with a Prime subscription, in addition to estimated delivery information and details about selected products promoted on Snapchat."
The two American companies had announced a partnership a year ago aiming to facilitate the purchasing process from Amazon using a virtual reality tool.
In April, Snapchat recorded 750 million monthly users. However, unlike Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), the platform has struggled to generate enough advertising revenue to achieve yearly profits. The California-based group is actively seeking new sources of income.
Details of the deal between Amazon and Snapchat have not been disclosed, particularly whether Snapchat will receive a share of the profits from sales on Amazon.
