Saab Marine Electronics has set up Saab Marine Middle East Fzc, a subsidiary unit, in the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (Saif Zone).

Saab’s expansion into Sharjah is in line with its corporate plan to establish direct presences in all of the world’s major shipping hubs. Apart from representing other sister companies of Saab Marine Electronics, the Saif subsidiary will also handle all sales and service-related activities for the Middle East region.

Most of Saab’s equipment and spare parts are transported by air. Saif Zone’s proximity to seaports was a chief prerequisite for establishing the subsidiary there. Competitive rates and reputation for having friendly and reliable employees were also essential characteristics of Saif.

From its regional facility in Saif Zone, Saab Marine Electronics will service all ports, tankers and oil refineries in the Middle East. A similar facility in the Far East will follow the Saif Zone one.

The Swedish-based Saab Marine Electronics claims to be the world’s most successful company in radar based tank level gauging. The first Saab TankRadar system for tankers was delivered in 1975, and it took ten years before any competitor was able to bring the same technique to the market. Today, more than half of all new tankers in the world are equipped with Saab TankRadar, and its customers include all major oil companies. Saab Marine Electronics has also been granted seven different patents. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
