Visa exclusive payment services sponsor of FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan

Visa, a global payments technology company, announced it is adding its support to the development of women’s football in Jordan as a top-tier partner of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The event is the first-ever top level FIFA women’s tournament to be held in the Middle East and one of the largest sporting events ever hosted by the Kingdom of Jordan. By sponsoring the event, Visa is expanding its reach as a provider of the best systems for paying and being paid, and bringing the benefits of electronic payments to both new customers in Jordan and those visiting the country for the tournament.

Last June, Visa offered exclusive pre-sale tickets for its cardholders, and during the tournament, Visa is providing backstage experiences at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup for its banking partners. 

Visa has been a FIFA partner since 2007 and as such it holds the global rights in the Payment Services product category for all FIFA competitions. The partnership links between FIFA and Visa allow the world’s leading payment brand to deliver tangible brand affinity, loyalty, equity and preference, via the world’s most popular sport, football.

Countries participating in the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup include: Jordan, Brazil, Cameroon, Canada, England, Germany, Ghana, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Paraguay, Spain, United States and Venezuela. Japan are reigning champions, having lifted the trophy in Costa Rica in 2014.

Teams will play a total of 32 matches over 11 days across the three host cities of Amman, Irbid and Zarqa. The final will be held on 21 October, 2016, at Amman International Stadium.
