Final ceremony of A9eel in School programme to be held at Seef Mall

As part of its efforts to develop Bahraini human capital to match the requirements of the labour market and make Bahrainis the employees of choice, Tamkeen, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, has announced that the final ceremony of the “A9eel in School” programme for the school year 2012/2013 will be held on Thursday 20 June at Seef Mall West Expansion.

The event will include a special exhibition between 12:00 pm and 07:30 pm that will showcase the creative projects of participating student teams representing 11 secondary schools across the country that participated in this year’s programme. The exhibition will immediately be followed by an award ceremony to honour the participants and select the winning project.

Launched in 2010, the “A9eel in School” programme emanates from Tamkeen’s and the Ministry of Education’s strategic goals to develop healthy attitudes and instil basic work ethics among Bahraini youths in government secondary schools to prepare them for the labour market.

The programme covers a 12-unit module delivered in experiential learning structure during one academic semester in preparation for the final competition, in which the best project on a predetermined theme is selected. This year’s projects focus on community service and development.

Commenting on the announcement, Amal Al Kooheji, Tamkeen’s Acting Vice President for Human Capital Development, said: “A9eel in school is one of the key programmes that Tamkeen offers to support young talents in the kingdom, develop Bahraini skills, and instil work ethics among the youths to help them contribute efficiently to the national economy. We invite the public to attend the final ceremony to support these young people and learn about their ideas and outstanding projects.”

For his part, Sheikh Hesham bin Abdul-Aziz Al Khalifa, The Undersecretary for Resources and Services at the Ministry of Education, said: “This competition represents the culmination of the participating students’ efforts throughout the academic year, where they will be able to showcase the work ethic and knowledge that they have learned in an environment that simulates that demands and requirements of the commercial sector. By putting their unique ideas and projects out publicly, the students will be able to receive constructive criticism from the visiting patrons.”

More than 77,000 Bahraini individuals and enterprises in Bahrain have benefited from Tamkeen programmes to date, and the total number of beneficiaries from existing and planned programmes is expected to rise to more than 150,000.
