Ford continues to pull out all the stops this motor show season, with its Ford GT racing drivers set for a stay on the Ford stand at next week’s Dubai International Motor Show.

Ahead of the last race of 2017 in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, the 6 Hours of Bahrain, drivers of the #67 GT, Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell of the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team will be on hand to greet fans of Ford on the evening of November 14 until 8pm. The dynamic duo are fresh off the back of huge win at the 6 Hours of Shanghai, the penultimate round of the WEC.

“We’re thrilled that the elite drivers of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing, pilots of our Ford GT supercar in the FIA World Endurance Championship, will take time out of their rigorous schedule to rub shoulders with racing fans, and fans of Ford alike, at the Dubai International Motor Show,” said Jacques Brent, president, Ford Middle East and Africa.

“Their presence on the Ford stand is a stark reminder and visual representation of the connection between pure-bred racetrack performance, and the road-ready production vehicles in the Ford line-up.”

In creating the high performance Ford GT, the pioneers behind the supercar designed it not only to win races, but also to serve as a test bed for new technologies and ideas for future vehicles across Ford’s vehicle line-up.

The 2005 Ford GT, for instance, featured a lightweight aluminium alloy body that helped reduce weight to improve performance. Lessons learned from its production led to the innovative use of high-strength aluminium alloy in today’s Ford F-Series pickup trucks and the all-new Ford Expedition full-size SUV – shedding a great deal of weight, while also improving capability, performance and fuel efficiency.

GT’s role as a technology test bed is evident throughout the supercar, with some innovations, such as carbon fibre light-weighting, serving as longer-term possibilities, while others, such as the 12-inch customisable all-digital instrument cluster similar to that in the supercar, which is already available in the 2018 Ford Mustang.

The Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team will be on the Ford stand at the Dubai International Motor Show on November 14 until 8pm, greeting fans and signing autographs, before jetting off to Bahrain for the last race of the WEC season, which takes place on November 18.
