The second leg of the Standard Chartered Challenge Cup 2011 will be held on Saturday October 29, 2011 with Dubai Offshore Sailing Club DOSC taking its turn as host of the celebrated interclub event. The Standard Chartered Challenge Cup, which is being revived this year following a 27-year break, gathers sailors from Abu Dhabi Sailing Club (ADSC) and DOSC who will vie for the coveted championship.

The well-attended opening leg of this year’s competition was hosted by ADSC in Abu Dhabi and involved 32 sailors in 20 dinghies. The Standard Chartered Challenge Cup was inaugurated in 1973 two years after the United Arab Emirates was founded with Chartered Bank as the inaugural sponsor. The interclub competition was held twice a year until 1984, with the last one being won by the ADSC. The event is being revived this year with a new name, the Standard Chartered Challenge Cup.
