Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels holds a blood donation campaign in collaboration with HMC

Reinforcing its commitment to social causes, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, the five-star designer collection of boutique hotels recently hosted a blood donation drive at Al Bidda Boutique Hotel from 9 am till 5 pm. Organized in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation’s Blood Donor Unit, the initiative was aimed at shoring up national blood reserves and creating wider awareness of the need for regular blood donations, given the short shelf-life of blood components.

The blood donation drive saw enthusiastic participation of the Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels (SWBH) staff and guests. This year’s campaign followed on from a similar successful exercise the previous years, which continues on the previously established objectives of enhancing blood bank stocks at HMC and raising awareness of the importance of donating blood and the resulting health benefits to society.

All volunteers were screened by healthcare professionals from HMC as part of their stringent quality control procedure to ensure the general health and suitability of donors prior to the start of the blood donation process.

Commenting on this occasion, Aisha Al Khamees Human Resources Manager and member of Social welfare committee at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels said:“The need for blood is constant, and so is the need for donations. Today, through this campaign, we are very proud of our staff members and guests who spearheaded this initiative and would like to thank all those who stepped forward enthusiastically to donate their blood. We also extend our thanks to Hamad Medical Corporation for their invaluable support in organizing this campaign.”

She added, “This campaign was a part of Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels’ corporate social responsibility, it’s commitment to good citizenship and enhancements of social bonds.”
